Community Read event features Jesuit priest and author

FALLBROOK – Father Gregory Boyle has been invited to speak at the Fallbrook Library Saturday, May 26, as part of the Friends of Fallbrook Library 2018 Community Read. Boyle, an entertaining and inspirational speaker, will be discussing his bestselling novel "Barking to the Choir." The Jesuit priest and bestselling author will share what three decades of working with gang members in Los Angeles has taught him about faith, compassion, and the enduring power of kinship. The speaker at last year's Community Read Ann Patchett said, "If you're in the market for genuine inspiration, I urge you to read 'Barking to the Choir.'"

The event will be held "after hours" at the library for ticket holders only who will have the opportunity to meet the author and mingle with other guests while enjoying a delightful array of wine, soft drinks, desserts and other light bites, both inside and on the lighted patios.

Copies of the book are currently available at the library for checkout and will also be available for sale at the event. There will be related events leading up the author's visit, including a free Friends of the Fallbrook-led book discussion, 1 p.m., May 24, in the library's community room. Discussion questions and refreshments will be provided.
