Area firefighters train on Camp Pendleton

Camp Pendleton, CAL Fire, and Orange County firefighters excavate fire breaks along the highway during joint operations on Camp Pendleton, April 30. The goal was to establish 38 miles of a total 164 miles of firebreaks used to keep fires from leaving the installation and damaging property on and off base for the rest of the fire season. Neighboring fire departments use Camp Pendleton's fire fighting operations as a resource for training and improving tactics that they wouldn't otherwise implement.
