    FALLBROOK — On November 18, Maie Ellis Elementary School held their November flag ceremony honoring veterans and military men and women. Mrs. Meiner’s second-graders were excited to perform the poem “Our Country” in front of the student body. The class also sang a medley of the anthems to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.     Students who will be showing their artwork at the children’s room of the Fallbrook Library during the month of December include 7-year-old Olivia Lowden, 6-year-old Temet Lugo and 8-year-old Rosalie Helling.   • Supervisors grant Peppertree Park time extension

    The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted to provide a time extension for the tentative map for Peppertree Park. In addition to extending the expiration date of the map to August 14, 2009, the supervisors’ 5-0 vote November 2 also removes a previous condition requiring the widening of Peppertree Lane.     The County of San Diego reviewed its policies involving eminent domain and revised four of the policies to protect non-blighted, owner-occupied residential structures from being taken for private property use.     With the rainy season here, San Diego County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) wants to help residents of unincorporated areas prevent soil erosion on their property. The department is providing free sand and sandbags at seven strategic locations, including two in Valley Center. Materials are available at fire stations in Ramona, Valley Center, Julian, Bonita, Alpine and Lakeside. Each location currently has 4,000 bags and 10 cubic yards of sand.     Tea under the sycamores with a hint of persimmons and kumquats lured a group of twenty docents from Quail Gardens in Encinitas to Fallbrook’s Beck Grove on a balmy 83-degree mid-November day. The first Thursday of each month the Masons have a dinner for their members, Eastern Star Ladies and friends.
