Arbor Day Foundation announces free trees

Ten free Arizona Cypress trees will be given to each person who joins the National Arbor Day Foundation during September. The free trees are part of the nonprofit foundation’s Trees for America campaign.

“Arizona Cypresses were selected for this campaign because of their drought tolerance and their many uses in the home landscape,” said foundation president John Rosenow. “The lend beauty to their surroundings with their blue-green foliage. They can be used as individual ornamentals, a windbreak or privacy screen or as living Christmas trees.”

The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting between October 15 and December 10 with enclosed planting instructions. The six- to 12-inch trees are guaranteed to grow or will be replaced free of charge.

Members also receive a subscription to the foundation’s colorful bimonthly publication, Arbor Day, and “The Tree Book,” with information about tree planting and care.

To receive the free trees, send a $10 membership contribution to Ten Arizona Cypresses, National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410, by September 30, or join online at http://www.arborday.org.
