Volunteer reading tutors needed

Last updated 9/29/2006 at Noon

Live Oak and Maie Ellis elementary schools are looking for those who have a passion for reading and would like to become reading tutors. Each tutor receives a three-hour training session and then works one hour each week with students to develop the children’s confidence and fluency in reading.

The program, Everyone A Reader, was designed by and is monitored by the San Diego County Office of Education. It has proven to be a highly successful and positive way of supporting children in the process of learning to read.

The mission of Live Oak and Maie Ellis is to fill the present need for additional tutors. They warmly invite those interested to join their wonderful team of parents, grandparents and community members who are all giving the gift of reading to a child.
