Clydesdales coming for Fallbrook Christmas parade

FALLBROOK — Have you heard the big news? The Budweiser Clydesdales are coming to town! Decked out in full regalia, the world-renowned Clydesdales will be a central feature of the 25th Annual Fallbrook Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce, on Saturday, December 2, from 5 to 7 p.m.

This year’s theme, “Home for Christmas,” will be reflected in the decoration of the floats, the bands and their music and the distinguished guests. It was also a key factor in the choice for Grand Marshal: Fallbrook’s very own Darwin East. Darwin’s name is synonymous with community service and “hometown hero;” his resume includes membership over the years in almost every organization in town, including the Chamber of Commerce, Fallbrook Hospital Foundation, Fallbrook Village Association, Fallbrook Planning Group, Fallbrook Historical Society, Farm Bureau, Business Advisory Council, and multitudes of booster organizations for youth, sports, music, 4H and FFA. For his many past and ongoing contributions to the community, Darwin was named Citizen of the Year in 1987.

Special thanks go to Tom Sarette and the Markstein Beverage Company for making the arrangements to have the Budweiser Clydesdales come to town. What a fitting tribute to the theme “Home for Christmas.” It seems easy to picture the television ad with the Clydesdales trotting down the country road lined with deep snow to reach the brightly lit home nestled at the end.

Details on the parade, its special guests and other features will be publicized in the coming weeks. For now, just be sure to save the date: December 2!

Individuals who would like to help, either as sponsors or as volunteers, are encouraged to call Carol Eastman at the Chamber at (760) 728-5845.
