Warriors toppled by Titans

On Friday, October 5, the Fallbrook Warriors hosted the seventh-ranked Poway Titans in a non-league battle. The game was won by Poway 24-6. The Warriors played well in front of a large crowd but in the end were overpowered by experience and size.

The first 20 minutes of the game were exciting as the Warriors held the Titans to three points. However, two Titan scores before the half left the Warriors playing catch-up against a tough defense. The Warriors had many opportunities throughout the game to score but could not make the big play. The second half was one of defensive adjustments by the Warrior defense to hold the potent Titan offense to one touchdown. The Warriors’ score came when Cody McDole ran off the left side for a 78-yard sprint to the goal line.

Some of the highlights were Alderez Siaton’s second half interception stalling a Poway offensive drive, Jake Ware’s five tackles and one sack and Will Evans’ six tackles and one sack. Fallbrook continues to play tough, physical football against some very good teams and has remained disciplined, drawing very few penalties. These team characteristics should serve the Warriors well entering league play.

The freshman and JV teams dominated Poway with solid efforts this weekend. Look for these teams to also make a run in league play. Make sure you come and support all the Warriors this week against Rancho Bernardo. The freshmen play on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Fallbrook. The junior varsity and varsity teams play on Friday at 5 and 7:30 p.m. in Rancho Bernardo. Go Warriors!
