Boys cross-country 18th in Division I at Woodbridge Invite

Fallbrook High School’s boys cross-country team placed 18th among Division I squads at the Woodbridge Invite September 16.

“The competitive level was so high,” said Fallbrook coach Marty Hauck. “We learned a few lessons along the way.

The meet entailed a total of 185 schools. Fallbrook was 18th among the 24 Division I teams. “It was probably the most competitive meet on the West Coast,” Hauck said.

Approximately 4,000 runners from all divisions competed at the meet hosted by Woodbridge High School, which is located in Irvine. Fallbrook’s Bret Hasvold finished 16th among all runners with a time of 14:48 on the three-mile course.

“Bret was exceptional in that race,” Hauck said. “He had a tremendous race.”

Vinny Granata had a time of 15:44, Todd Van Duzer ran the course in 15:55, Tim Eves finished at 16:02, and Kevin Strickladen crossed the finish line with a time of 16:20.

“It was a very solid performance,” Hauck said. “Kind of indicates that we can be well up there when it comes time for the state finals.”
