Bragging rights go to Wildomar Chamber - Wildomar 10, Lake Elsinore 4

It was a rough weekend for some Southern California ball teams — like the Padres and the Lake Elsinore Chamber of Commerce softball team. The Storm went down to defeat at the hands of the Wildomar Wildcats with a score of 10 to 4. The game was played at the Wildomar Little League field.

The Wildomar Wildcats strutted their stuff in style, sporting “Chamber Challenge” jerseys provided by Lisa Zagarella of Curves in Wildomar. The Lake Elsinore Storm provided hats for Elsinore and Storm mascot Thunder, who was seen mingling with the players in the dugout and some of the smaller fans. Haley Farnam of Farnam and Associates could be seen working the concession stand and providing a great deal of her time to organize the event. She also contributed some wonderful prizes.

All in all, it was a great afternoon of softball with plenty of food, raffle prizes and a silent auction. Jackie Crow walked away with a cruise for two to the Caribbean. The hosts of the event, the Wildomar Chamber of Commerce, wish to thank the many sponsors and participants who came together to make the game successful and fun. They hope to make it the first of many. Rick Estes, Wildomar Chamber President, stated, “This was a great opportunity for both local business communities to come together in an informal atmosphere. It’s nice to see people you normally talk to on the phone or over a desk in a relaxed mood. It builds an intercommunity camaraderie and allows us the ability to meet more people from the business community. I hope Elsinore enjoyed it as much as we did.”

Some of the local political candidates were present to enjoy the game. Elsinore team member Kim Cousins, currently an Elsinore School Board candidate, hinted that there may be a challenge for a repeat sometime in the near future. Baseball/softball season is nearing an end — football, anyone? Cousins was a great sport, commenting with a smile, “Thanks for kicking our butts.”

Kris Anderson, EVMWD candidate, assisted along with Corey Estes in hanging banners and spurring on the winning team. George Bush (a.k.a. George Cambero) was there to throw out the first pitch. Well, maybe not quite the first pitch, but no one complained that George Bush was missing! He turned up. Cambero is also a candidate for the Western Municipal Water Board.

Tim Boyes, captain of the Wildomar Wildcats, had so much fun that he’s offered to hold the October mixer for the Wildomar Chamber. All chambers and businesses are invited to attend the Halloween costume mixer on Thursday, October 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Boys and Son General Contractors, 32910 Batson Lane in Wildomar. There will be plenty of food, beverages and networking.
