Employees nix latest RMWD pay offer

The latest offer, which was not in writing, to the two employee associations of Rainbow Municipal Water District was unanimously denied on Friday, according to Robin Nahen of City Employees Associates.

A letter provided by Nahen, who represents the unions, states that the new offer included a “possible increase to a three-percent cost-of-living adjustment.”

In an August 29 letter, the impasse issues were identified as:

• “Cost of Living Adjustment; and

• Reduced pay and benefits levels for future employees

• Current Employees Medical Benefits”

A representative of the Employee Bargaining Units confirmed that many of the district’s employees are still “actively looking” for other jobs, although the district only has one position without a prospective person to fill it.
