The Board of Directors for Fallbrook’s Angel Society met on October 26 and awarded funds totaling $14,200 to nonprofit organizations that support the needs of the community. Funds were awarded to the following organizations:

• Canine Companions (in Oceanside) to help provide highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities.

• Fallbrook Girls Softball League for playing field improvement work.

• William H. Frazier Elementary School PTA to help purchase 20 copies of “Cat in the Hat” hardbound books.

• The Mira Costa College Theater Arts Foundation to help send Marine families to their productions.

• Ivy High School to purchase supplies for their organic garden project and to contribute support for an organic garden instructor to assist the lead teacher.

• REINS to restore the concrete abutments of the bridge where heavy rains washed away soil last year.

• Fallbrook Food Pantry to provide funds to support their ongoing program, which distributes food to approximately 1,200 needy individuals each week.

•Casa de Amparo to help finance buildings to house a children’s shelter and a child development and family service center at their new location.

• The Fallbrook High School Marching Band for travel expenses to allow the band to compete in the Western Band Association State Championship Competition in Fresno.

The Fallbrook Angel Society uses proceeds from the Angel Thrift Shop, member dues and other donations to fund requests for worthy community projects.

All of the merchandise sold in the Angel Shop comes from community donations. The Angel Shop is open for business Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the shop, located at 1002 South Main in Fallbrook.

The Angel Society held a successful after-hours sale for their collection of boutique garments recently and has announced plans for more after-hours sales on November 16 and December 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The sales will feature more boutique garments as well as winter coats.
