PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

On Thursday, October 12th, we held our October Sundowner at the Village News front patio. It was a beautiful evening and the food was delicious. Our hosts were Julie Reader (Village News), Sirina Waddell (Hometown Appliance Center) and Harry Waddell (Fowler Rooter & Plumbing).

This fine event set the stage for our “big weekend”, the Bonsall Country Festival.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 14th, our Chamber board members seemingly struggled to maintain sanity while attempting to get our “vendors”, “business expo”, “art show”, Jolly Jumps, portable toilets, tables and chairs, different colored table drapes and ponies into the designated areas.

Actually, we all knew exactly what we were doing and the results were pretty spectacular, if I do say so myself!

We were complimented by nearly everyone! The dancers in the children’s events were outstanding. The Desert Guns folks put all the right people in jail. The afternoon band was perfect, named the Rolling Radio Show, they played music that fit our group and were not too loud. Our wide assortment of business or vendor booths was perfect. The Bonsall Country Festival had something for everyone!

We survived two major rain showers bracketed by beautiful Bonsall skies. The art contestants all won something, in fact, my pastel self-portrait, done when I was 13, was judged Best of Show! I’m sure no one recognized me!

Among our many announcements were the 2007 “Bonsall Dude”: Richard Riddle and the 2007 Honorary Mayor of Bonsall: Jill Marie Thorburn. Both of them were worthy of their new titles.

The next several days many of us were basically “flat of our backs” with very sore feet and back spasms! But it was all worth the pain and planning for next year’s event is starting!
