Stop the insanity

I am glad that the city of Escondido has taken a stand against illegal immigration and I hope that other cities will soon follow.

Our government officials in Washington are not doing a thing to uphold our immigration laws and we must stop this illegal invasion of our country now.

The facts are:

1. It is a felony for anyone to enter the United States illegally.

2. It is a felony to knowingly aid or help a felon elude deportation or prosecution.

3. Most illegals do not pay taxes or contribute to our welfare, Social Security, medical and educational systems.

4. The law states that we (US citizens) must teach illegal immigrant children to become bilingual in grade school, which in turn enables them to have an advantage over US citizens’ children in the labor market.

5. These same laws also state that our children (US citizens) are not entitled to be taught a foreign language in grade school even though our tax dollars pay for schools and teachers.

6. We (US citizens) spend millions every year in food stamps, cash-aid and medical care helping these criminals who are in the United States illegally.

7. Hospitals are closing across the country due to unpaid bills generated largely by illegals who crowd our ERs with non-emergencies and use false IDs to obtain medical services.

As for the argument that we need migrant workers to pick our crops, I have this question for our government officials: How is it that the United States can send someone to the moon, find cures for diseases and develop stealth technology and satellites that can read vehicle license plates from space but we cannot find a way for our own citizens to make a decent living picking our own fruits and vegetables grown in the United States?

We must stop this insanity now or we will soon be saying goodbye to the American way of life.
