Yes on Prop. A!

Recent letters regarding joint-use of Miramar MCAS have suggested that a “yes” vote on Prop. A is a “wasted vote” since the Navy/Marines and Duncan Hunter are opposed to the whole idea. Not so! A vote is never wasted when you vote for something in which you believe. You may go down to defeat the first time, but at least you have rendered an honest attempt to change the “status quo.”

Frankly, all it would take in Washington is a Presidential nod to the Navy/Marines, plus support by a couple of influential Senators/Congressmen and the military would do an immediate “about face” and order the chain of command to begin negotiations with San Diego to bring this obviously sensible solution about. It probably won’t happen on “this watch,” but a strong vote in favor of Prop. A will provide a benchmark of public sentiment when the current love affair with all things military has evaporated!

This is one time when “staying the course” makes sense. Yes on Prop. A!
