Fallbrook Tribe wins 20-0

It was a great match-up: the undefeated Fallbrook Tribe against the unbeaten San Marcos Bishops. Both teams were 5-0. Fallbrook went in with the number-one-rated offense and defense against San Marcos’ number two offense and number two defense.

It was a great setting in October, rain, mud and two hungry teams both loaded with talented 10- and 11-year-old boys. The Tribe, led by Coach Thomas, went in at halftime with an 8 to 0 lead thanks to Michael Vick-like quarterback Troy Welby scoring on a sweep and, of course, followed by a great field goal made by kicker Clayton Dale.

The Tribe knew they still had a lot of work to do, and two key players were out, Christian Thomas at linebacker and Devon Alkema at defensive tackle. Players like P.J. Cavaretta and Cy Vojak battled their hearts out and helped lead their team to victory.

The true leader and heart and soul of this team is a young man named Angel Perez. As tailback and linebacker this guy will not be denied scoring a touchdown. Rushing for well over 100 yards and making at least 10 tackles, this quiet kid is leading his team to a bright future for Fallbrook Football.

The game’s final score was 20 to 0 due to a great defense and players like James Rodriguez at monster back. The great thing about this team is that a large percentage of this team maintains straight ‘A’s in school and best of all they are good sports! These football players don’t talk about winning, they talk about giving 110 percent every play, every down, every second in life and they know good things will come for them. All are invited to cheer them on and watch for them in the future.
