Steer time is fun time!

On Saturday, September 21, the Fallbrook Ag Boosters held an extremely successful auction, with profits that topped $26,000! At the auction, students worked at a food booth and all of the profits went toward paying for their trip to the State Leadership Convention later in the year!

On Saturday, November 4, nine Fallbrook FFA members made the drive up to Visalia, CA, for the Central Valley Showcase steer auction. This marked the beginning of an eight-month-long steer project that teaches students how to be responsible to a long-term project. The steers will be brought home on Saturday, November 12, after students attend the Champion’s Choice Cattle Camp. The students are excited and cannot wait to go up and purchase their steers.

The countdown has begun! In these last couple of weeks, new members have started their SAEP projects when their flats of plants came in; new members and old members came together and transplanted to get ready for this upcoming year! Imagine the excitement of these members, knowing that they can take a transplant, raise it, sell it and make a good profit! This makes the plant projects very appealing to many of the Fallbrook FFA members and gives the students who prefer plant projects the opportunity to have them! To add to the plant projects, the steers will now come to the Ag Department, and following them will be the goats, lambs and pigs, which come later in the year!

On October 26, a chapter meeting was held, and the 2006-2007 Greenhand Officer Team was elected. These nine members, who all hold Greenhand degrees, shadow the chapter officers for the duration of the school year. This year’s Greenhand Officer Team members are: Amanda Pitts, Tatiana Prestininzi, Tara Glidden, Kelsey Adams, Amanda Stamp, Christine Russell, Wade Colburn, Kevin McGuire and Thomas Harker! Congratulations to all of the contestants!
