Fallbrook CATCH Committee wants you!

Do you work with children in the healthcare field? Are you a concerned parent? Are you an interested community member? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the CATCH Committee needs you!

CATCH stands for Community Access to Child Health, a national program of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). It is designed to improve access to healthcare by supporting pediatricians and communities that are involved in community-based efforts for children. Fallbrook is fortunate to have an active CATCH Committee devoted to improving the healthcare of their children.

The Fallbrook CATCH Committee is lead by pediatrician Dr. Christine Taft. It is currently working on getting its 501c3 nonprofit status through the IRS and in the meantime is under the umbrella of the Fallbrook Healthcare Foundation.

The first major project of CATCH is the Fallbrook Childhood Diabetes Prevention Project (FCDPP), funded by a grant of the Fallbrook Healthcare District. CATCH Coordinator Loreta Villemez and Diabetes Educator/Case Manager Janine Loescher, RD, CDE, CLE run the program under the direction of the board of directors.

Interested community members are welcome to attend the next CATCH Committee meeting, to be held on Tuesday, November 14, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Adult Day Care Center, 320 West Alvarado Street. Phone (760) 728-1781 with any questions.
