At Home on Main raising funds for Treescape Project

It was with great joy and appreciation that the Save Our Forest (SOF) group received notice of a major opportunity through a downtown merchant. Marie Kinneman, owner and operator of At Home on Main Street at 136 North Main, called with a wonderful, thoughtful gift for our Treescape Project. Her initiative in promoting a way to support the maintenance of our downtown trees through her business is amazing. Here it is.

As part of her holiday merchandise Marie will be selling Christmas tree ornaments and one especially for the Treescape Project. They are hand-painted plaques with a beautiful tree on one side and inscribed with a message on the other. They cost $10 and come with a hanger and will make a statement of the beauties of nature. Everyone needs a new ornament for their tree each year, and what better way is there to make a contribution to our community? All profits from the sales will come directly to the Save Our Forest Tree Maintenance Fund.

Many are not aware that as an unincorporated community in San Diego County, Fallbrook receives no assistance with our community forest. Care for the thousands of trees planted by SOF is provided through community donations (i.e. replacements, pruning, some maintenance, insect control, fertilization and all the other needs). Volunteers provide thousands of hours of work, including part of the above, to offset as much cost as possible.

Purchasing that new ornament for 2007 is a wonderful way for us to participate and we applaud Marie for her community spirit and thank her sincerely for her willingness to go beyond the normal operation of her beautiful store. As the shopping season begins, drop into Marie’s store and look for the SOF logo and supply of ornaments. Maybe that tree will become the Fallbrook pickle of German lore that brings good luck and happiness to your home.
