Fire safety tips offered

Fire can occur at any time, and in order for homeowners to be prepared, each home should have at least one fire extinguisher. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, in an effort to encourage everyone to “be fire safe, not sorry,” offers these three tips for fires occurring in the home:

1. Make sure everyone gets out of the house immediately.

2. Call the fire department.

3. If the fire is small, try to control and extinguish it. However, if it quickly gets bigger, get out right away and be sure to close doors to slow the fire’s spread.
