New Web site a tribute to Fallbrook veterans

During the Veteran’s Day ceremony held Saturday, November 11, in the Village Square, Colonel Bob Krone, USAF (Ret.) announced that Fallbrook has stepped to the forefront by extending recognition to its veterans in an exciting, new venue. A brand new Web site, http://www.fallbrookveterans.com, has been created to pay tribute to and tell the stories of veterans who have lived, or are currently living, in Fallbrook. The effort has been endorsed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1924, the Fallbrook/Bonsall Village News and the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce.

Krone, with the vision of moving the downtown Veterans Honor Roll into cyberspace so that it could be viewed worldwide, said he brainstormed with Village News Publisher Julie Reeder and Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Leonard, which led to the project moving forward.

“This is believed to be the first such Web site program for a community or city in the United States,” Krone said.

“Julie Reeder not only endorsed the idea, she asked Eric La Rose, the Village News Web site technician, to build the site,” Krone said. “So, instead of sharing an idea with you today, I can announce that we now have the Fallbrook Veterans Recognition Web site almost ready to go!”

“We want the site to be correct and to honestly portray the brief story you want about your veteran,” Krone said. “We will not rush in putting submissions online, but once there, it will go on in perpetuity.”

Fallbrook’s VFW Post 1924 has endorsed the program and will manage it. La Rose will continue to be the Web site technician. The site can be accessed through http://www.fallbrookveterans.com.
