Wildomar town meeting Nov. 18

Vital transportation projects; sheriff’s programs to promote safe, secure neighborhoods; and plans to restore and open three parks will be among topics discussed Saturday, November 18, at a Wildomar town meeting hosted by Supervisor Bob Buster.

The meeting will be an open forum for residents to ask questions and share opinions and ideas about important community issues. Various Riverside County officials will join the First District Supervisor at the forum to offer information and answer questions.

“I want to know what Wildomar residents think about these important issues,” Buster said. “The best way to solve problems and improve the community is to work together.”

The meeting will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the David A. Brown Middle School multipurpose room, 21861 Grand Avenue in Wildomar. It is being co-hosted by the Wildomar Municipal Advisory Council.

County Economic Development Agency officials will be on hand to detail the Wildomar redevelopment project and will discuss plans to restore and reopen Marna O’Brien, Windsong and Heritage parks.

The county Transportation Department will update the community about ongoing road projects – including Clinton Keith Road and Bundy Canyon Road – and future road-construction plans. The county Planning Department will discuss land use and community development. Information concerning litter and trash cleanups on Lost Road, which were part of a countywide project Buster initiated, will also be available.

Buster’s recent introduction of the Wildomar Roundtable has spurred community dialog about conformance zoning efforts involving the county general plan and the location of major transportation corridors.

County fire officials will discuss the recent fires and explain strategies for disaster response and emergency preparedness. The Sheriff’s Department will explain plans for a new program to promote safe, secure neighborhoods free of violent crime and gang influence.

The Animal Services Department will be on hand to discuss ideas for reducing the ballooning population of unwanted pets and proposals for a new animal shelter.
