FFA: 'Take the Challenge: LEAD'

Every year, the Fallbrook FFA begins to get busy around the time of November. This year is no different. In these last couple of weeks, our members have participated in two different leadership conferences and had a chapter meeting and many of our members have already begun their Supervised Agricultural Experience Project (SAEP). Along with this, the Fallbrook FFA has over six different judging teams, also known as Career Development Events, preparing to compete at their first contest on December 2!

This year, at SOCAL, a leadership conference for the Southern Region FFA Officer Teams, there were leadership development activities and seminars for each constitution officer and their individual office and responsibilities. The State FFA officers also announced their theme for this year: “Take the Challenge: LEAD.”

Last Friday, over 20 first-year members from our chapter went to El Capitan High School for the yearly Greenhand Conference. At this conference, members work on their Individual Personal Planners and participate in a variety of leadership and team-building activities.

At the monthly meeting last week, members were educated about the leadership conferences Made for Excellence (MFE) and Advanced Leadership Academy (ALA), reviewed the events that had happened in the past month and are looking forward to the first field day held at Fallbrook High School!

Members in the FFA look forward to their SAEPs throughout the year. These projects can include work experiences; market animals such as a steer, lamb, goat, pig and turkey; and plant projects. Last week, nine new SAEP steer projects were brought to the Ag Department. A total of 13 students purchased their market steers to begin their market projects last week. There are five black steers, three brockel face steers (black and white) and four red steers.

In addition, we have had students diligently making Thanksgiving flower arrangements that will be sold at Major Market. The Fallbrook FFA is keeping up its reputation of working hard, being successful and having fun with another year full of thriving members and outstanding achievements!
