Micro Doctor continues commitment to customers, community

Businesses may come and businesses may go, but Fallbrook resident Rick Aldana, the owner of Micro Doctor, a 10-year-old computer repair and consulting business here, is proud to remain committed to providing quality service to his customers and those previously assisted by others. By the time 2006 draws to a close, Micro Doctor will prove they are small but mighty by repairing approximately 1,500 computer systems this year.

With 25 years of comprehensive experience in the computer industry, Aldana has accepted customers previously assisted by Coast Computers and Tim’s Useable Computers so their needs continue to be met. Aldana purchased the clientele base of Coast Computers in 2000 and Tim’s Useable Computers in 2006 after the businesses closed their doors.

“They didn’t want to leave their customers hanging, and we make house calls for both residential and commercial applications,” Aldana said. For Aldana, it was an easy transition, given his concern for the customer.

“Our focus is on service; that’s where it’s at and that has been the secret to our success,” he said. “People don’t want to run out and buy a new computer every time a little something happens. Computers are similar to cars; if you do your preventative maintenance, you will fare well.”

“People are as dependent on their computers as they are their cars,” Aldana said. “When they have a problem, they want it fixed now.”

One thing Aldana recommends to his customers is his special 10-Point Security Tune Up. The offer includes a careful evaluation of the computer, a complete cleaning of problem areas, a thorough review of error logs and verification that the anti-virus and anti-spyware protection is fully up-to-date.

“We’re rarely stumped by anything,” Aldana admitted when asked how often unusual situations occur. In addition to computer and printer maintenance and repair (including laptops), he welcomes the opportunity to provide advice to customers when they are contemplating buying a new system.

“I can save people a lot of time and money by talking with them about what type of system they need or want,” he said. “With my experience in video and other electronics, I can help people coordinate their electronics – including high definition systems.”

Micro Doctor maintains a firm commitment not only to its customers but to the community as a whole. Aldana is a five-year member of Fallbrook Rotary and chairperson of the organization’s graffiti cleanup project.

“We are always looking for ways to give back to our community,” Aldana said. “So, I took over the graffiti cleanup crew that consists of about two dozen people and the community anti-graffiti hotline.” Aldana explained that members of the community call the hotline when they see graffiti and the Rotarians respond in a timely manner and paint over the vandalism.

“It’s our way of keeping Fallbrook beautiful,” he said. “The community really appreciates it. I also think we’ve been helpful to local businesses insofar as helping them with ideas to prevent more episodes of graffiti. The community support of the graffiti cleanup effort is wonderful. It’s been very gratifying.”

Aldana is also involved in a community service project for the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County, Fallbrook unit.

“Through Rotary I learned that the club was in need of help with the computers they have for their homework center,” Aldana said. “I met with [Club Executive Director] Abe Oliveras in early November and went and evaluated their computers. Most of them need regular maintenance items, especially when you have kids using computers. They primarily need some TLC and a few small upgrades.”

Aldana said the club has only two or three computers that are “limping along,” but he intends to have six running well by the end of December.

“I will have 12 to 14 functioning well by later January,” he noted. “We have taken this on as a community service project.”

Micro Doctor is open seven days a week. Primary hours are Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but services are available on Sunday if needed. It is operated as a home-based business at 417 South Orange Street, Fallbrook. For more information or to make an appointment, call (760) 728-3911.
