PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Our Annual Installation, Awards and Dinner was a marvelous event: well attended, well organized, great food and great video presentations.

The Honorees: Nelly Jarrous was honored as Bonsall’s Community Service Leader of the Year; Prudential California Realty, Diane Hogencamp, Branch Manager as Bonsall’s Business of the Year and Mary Jane Tukua as Bonsall Union School District Teacher of the Year. They brought friends and families to enjoy the “This Is Your Life” presentations made by Mary Jane Poulter, Marilyn Schweibold, and Connie Cahill, respectively. Dave Cantrell’s musical slide show video productions were entertaining.

The theme of the event was “Oriental Colors” and each person received, with their place setting, a good luck Chinese coin, colorful favor boxes containing a fortune cookie and other delights. The set up was ably designed and set up by Mary Jane Poulter with the help of our staff and volunteers.

Our new 2007 Bonsall Chamber board of directors were installed at the meeting, along with our new honorary mayor. Since that dinner, we have had another board meeting to plan the Christmas Dinner on December 4th. This dinner is to be held at the Bonsall Community Center and is designed as a “pot luck” event. We are planning our great annual Christmas Carole “sing along” with the addition of “karaoke”.

The more sober aspect of the party is addressed by the requirement that the guests bring unwrapped Christmas gifts for children in our community (including Camp Pendleton). Mary Jane Poulter works with the Bonsall Woman’s Club to provide some happiness in the lives of those families needing help.

Our group is planning to be represented in the Fallbrook Christmas Parade by our Bonsall Dude: Richard Riddle; Bonsall’s Honorary Mayor: Jill Marie Thorburn; Vice President Tony Flores and yours truly. If we can find another car we will have more luminaries!
