Aguigui takes fourth in state championship

The California State Gymnastics Championships, hosted by Poway Gymnastics, were held in San Diego November 18 and 19. Hundreds of girls from all over the state of California participated. Local Fallbrook resident Kalani Aguigui, 11, placed fourth all-around. Kalani competed on all four events: vault, bars, beam and floor. Her total all-around score for the entire competition was 37.35; she was just five-tenths of a point away from placing third. The first place championship was given to 11-year-old Katie Bibas of Tustin, CA, with a total all-around score of 37.95. A total of 35 girls competed in their division.
