Angel Society approves $14,870 for local projects

The Board of Directors for Fallbrook’s Angel Society met on December 7 and awarded funds totaling $14,870 to nonprofit organizations that support the needs of the community. Funds were awarded to the following organizations:

• Training Education & Research Institute (TERI) to help complete a paving project at Via Rio House, which assists individuals with developmental and learning disabilities.

• BSA Troop #725 to assist Daniel Arnold with his Eagle Scout project to install artificial mats to surround planter boxes at Fallbrook Street School.

• The Fallbrook Wrestling Association to assist with tournament fees, uniforms, equipment and travel expenses.

• The Fallbrook Chorale to provide support for upcoming concerts.

• The Fallbrook Garden Club to purchase supplies for the La Paloma School Jr. Garden Club program.

Fallbrook High School field hockey team for equipment and uniforms.

• The Fallbrook Beautification Alliance to help underwrite the cost for a new mural on Alvarado Street and to provide funds for the Grand Tradition July 4 celebration.

• Santa’s Toy Project to help provide gifts and toys for needy children in the area, including those from military families with limited income.

• North County Times Charities Fund to help numerous nonprofit agencies. These contributions will be matched 60 percent by the McCormick Tribune Foundation and the North County Times.

The Fallbrook Angel Society uses proceeds from the Angel Thrift Shop, member dues and other donations to fund requests for worthy community projects.

All of the merchandise sold in the Angel Shop comes from community donations. The Angel Shop is open for business Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shop is located at 1002 South Main Avenue in Fallbrook.

The Angel Society recently held two successful after-hours sales for their collection of boutique garments and has announced plans for another after-hours sale on December 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The sale will feature more boutique garments as well as winter coats.
