Ann Gardner Sagers

Ann Gardner Sagers, 70, passed away December 15, 2006, in Heartland of Martinsburg, WV. She was born January 13, 1936, in Jefferson County, WV, to the late John Franklin, Jr. and Margaret Blue Gardner.

Mrs. Sagers graduated from Charles Town High School in 1953 and from the Washington County Hospital School of Nursing in Hagerstown, MD, in 1956. She served as a registered nurse at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Martinsburg and as captain and flight nurse in the West Virginia Air National Guard. As a homemaker, she raised her family in Waterford, VA; Medina, OH; and Fallbrook, CA, before retiring to Leetown, WV. Mrs. Sagers lived in Fallbrook from 1979-1995.

She is survived by husband Robert W. Sagers of Leetown, whom she married on January 7, 1967; sons John H. Sagers and wife Wendy of McMinnville, OR, and Judson W. Sagers and wife Kristin of Skillman, NJ; brother Robert K. Gardner of Burlington, WA; sister-in-law Dorothy L. Gardner and niece Julie K. DeHaven of Charles Town, WV; and grandsons Robert J. and Thomas F. Sagers.

A funeral service was held on December 19, 2006, at Leetown United Methodist Church with Rev. Melissa Rudolph officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant View Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Leetown Methodist Church, 11133 Leetown Road, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
