New program for posting military signs on East Mission fence

The San Diego County Department of Public Works, Keep Fallbrook Clean and Green and the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance have joined together in a cooperative venture to provide military families with a maintenance program and a location for posting “Welcome Home” signs when family members return home from deployment.

The fence on the north side of East Mission Road just west of I-15 is the property of San Diego County and is now being reserved for the posting of military Welcome Home signs only. All other individuals or groups that post signs will be notified of the need to remove their signs or advised that their signs and banners will be available for pickup at the Department of Public Works, Bonsall Road Station, on Highway 76 just east of River Village.

Military families may post Welcome Home signs at any time, but the signs will be subject to a 15-day display limitation. If family members wish to preserve their signs, they should retrieve them prior to the expiration of the 15-day time limit. At the end of 15 days, the signs will be removed.

The fence and the area around it will be maintained by members of Keep Fallbrook Clean and Green. Maintenance will include litter removal, sign removal after the time limit expires and any other tasks necessary for the general upkeep of the appearance of the fence and surrounding area.

The Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce is currently exploring the possibility of installing a flagpole at the fence location.

It is the aim of these Fallbrook groups to honor the US Marines based at Camp Pendleton and to provide an attractive setting for the displays families wish to post when their family members return home.
