FHS wrestling competes in tournaments

The Fallbrook High School varsity wrestling team was in central California competing in the Lemoore Duals on Friday and Saturday, December 8 and 9. They finished eighth overall with both Jake Wagaman at 215 lbs and Zach Plum at 160 lbs going undefeated. This is a tournament that the team has attended for many years in order to challenge a higher caliber of wrestlers than is generally available locally.

That same Saturday the freshman wrestlers were at Rancho Buena Vista High School competing in a freshman tournament. The only Fallbrook wrestler who placed was Michael Granata, who took third at 160 lbs.

The following Friday and Saturday, December 15 and 16, the varsity team attended the San Diego Holiday Classic at East Lake High School in Chula Vista. There were 59 teams and over 700 wrestlers competing in this individual tournament. It was the largest tournament ever held in San Diego. Three FHS wrestlers won third place trophies: Bret Jones at 103 lbs and Zach Plum at 160 lbs went 4-1 while Jake Wagaman at 215 lbs went 5-1.

Today and tomorrow, December 28 and 29, the varsity team is at the San Ysidro Invitational Tournament in El Cajon. Wrestling starts at 9:00 a.m. both days and everyone is invited to go support them.

Once again the team wants to express their heartfelt thanks to the Adopt-a-Wrestler sponsors and everyone else who has given so generously this year to support the team, especially the upper level Team Sponsors: Dorman Construction, Valley Short Pour, BCS Construction, BITF Sports, Bonsall Trucking and Ultra Graphix.
