U14 boys soccer excels

Fallbrook Youth Soccer (FYS) is alive and well with the U14 boys team winning three tournaments in the last two months. On November 11 the U14 boys all-star team, which is a combination of the Galaxy and Lasers teams, won the championship in the Vista All-Star Tournament. Next, they won the Commissioners Cup in Encinitas on December 3; then, they won the championship at the Mesa All-Star Tournament on December 10, beating the Escondido All-Stars 4-2 in the final game and only giving up a total of three goals during the entire tournament.

The U14 combined boys teams have remained undefeated in the last three tournaments with a record of 13 wins and 1 tie. “This combined team has really been a dream team,” says Head Coach Paul Mattson. “All of these young men are excellent soccer players.” Coach Jose Hernandez and Coach Nicolas Guerra’s combined knowledge and skills have helped tremendously in making this team what it is today.

The season is not over; the team is looking forward to starting Fallbrook’s Youth Soccer indoor league at Ingold Field and then continuing again in the summer league. They are always on the lookout for more players to add to the growing recreation league and want to continue their winning tradition at both the Commissions Cup and now the Mesa All-Star Tournament.
