Man injured in alleged attack

An 18-year-old Fallbrook man was allegedly attacked by three Hispanic males, ages 20-25, who were driving a green Toyota Tacoma, at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, December 30. San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call made from the victim’s home in Fallbrook, where he returned after the attack.

“We are getting two different versions of what happened from the witnesses [one young adult male and one juvenile male] who were with him,” said Sgt. Rich Hendrickson. “There was also alcohol consumption involved.”

“The first version was that the victim and his two male companions were driving through a local fast food restaurant when the victim exited the vehicle to use the restroom,” Hendrickson said. “The witnesses said after the victim did not return for 20 to 30 minutes, they exited the premises and saw him walking westbound on Ammunition Road from a nearby liquor store, at which time they noticed he was bleeding from his head.”

“The second version was that the trio went to a liquor store, where they were looking for someone to hook them up with some marijuana,” Hendrickson said. “They approached three Hispanic individuals about buying marijuana. At that time they say the victim got into the truck with those individuals and left to an unknown location. They said the victim called them about 30 minutes later and said he was at a nearby fast food restaurant, where they met him and found him bleeding from the head.”

Hendrickson said when officers responded to the call made from the victim’s residence, they found he had cuts to the head and called paramedics. The victim was transported by North County Fire to Fallbrook Hospital, where he was still hospitalized on Tuesday for his injuries.

“The incident remains under investigation and we are still looking for those three suspects,” Hendrickson said.

Anyone who may have information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to call Detective Lauhon at the Fallbrook Sheriff’s Substation at (760) 451-3100.
