Adams celebrates meritorious year

Diane Adams, a member of Fallbrook’s Brandon Gallery, has completed an unusually meritorious 2006. A Brandon member since 1998, Adams has a long list of achievements.

Adams graduated from Oceanside High School and San Diego State University, where she majored in art. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career at MiraCosta College. She has been teaching there consistently from that time, now teaching watercolor and serving as director of the school’s Krulak Gallery.

Early in 2006 Adams was honored by the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League with a Featured Artist Exhibition as a prize for winning “Best of Show – Watercolor” in their membership exhibition. Later in the year she again won “Best in Show,” this time for their “Small Works Exhibition,” and was awarded another complimentary exhibition.

Adams won first prize in watercolor at the San Diego County Fair this past June. In the past she has had one-woman exhibitions at the Buena Vista Ranch House in Vista and at the Institute of Art in Balboa Park, where she was featured artist.

In 2001 Adams was selected as Teacher of the Year and included in the “Who’s Who in American Teachers” for that year.

Having fostered art for youth throughout her career, Adams is well known for spearheading youth exhibitions in downtown Oceanside for many years.

Adams is most proud of her recent selection to the newly established Hall of Fame at the Oceanside High School Centennial Celebration. Only 13 people have been chosen for this award in the last century. Her award was for her work in the field of art and for giving back to the community. She was awed at the company she was keeping, as the other recipients are also gifted and well known throughout the community.

Brandon Gallery is proud to count Diane Adams among their outstanding members. Her photographs were recently shown at the gallery, where they were admired with alongside her very popular watercolors.
