Elizabeth Hospice offering volunteer training, community education class

The Elizabeth Hospice seeks caring people to be a part of the upcoming winter volunteer training and community education class. The classes will be held on Saturdays, February 3, 10 and 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Elizabeth Hospice office, located at 150 West Crest Street in Escondido. The training is free and open to the public.

The Elizabeth Hospice professional staff teaches the class, addressing issues such as hospice care, spiritual concerns, working with nonverbal patients, cultural diversity and active listening. Graduates of this class will serve their neighbors and faith communities in a variety of ways: as volunteers in hospice, pastoral care, nursing facilities, social service agencies and children’s support programs.

For more information about the training program, contact a volunteer coordinator at (760) 737-2050.
