Fallbrook Film Factory to screen 'White Rainbow,' host open house

If you attended the Fallbrook Christmas Parade you couldn’t miss the actors sashaying down Main and singing to their heart’s content followed by a cameraman and a gleaming limousine (provided by Curtisy Limousine). Several local residents representing the Fallbrook Film Factory portrayed personalities such as Rocky Balboa and Marilyn Monroe. Keith Kopitzke sang “Singing in the Rain,” while sister Katie sang “Don’t Rain on My Parade.” During the parade a Hollywood producer took note of Katie, said Donna Walden, a board member of the “Factory.”

“The Fallbrook Film Factory was recently incorporated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and expects to achieve tax-exempt status shortly,” Walden explained.

As a not-for-profit organization, the Factory will hold their first fundraiser, a screening of the locally produced film “White Rainbow,” on Saturday, January 20, at the Mission Theatre, 231 North Main in Fallbrook. During wine and cheese reception after the screening, to be held at the Art Campus of Fallbrook, 310 East Alvarado, people are invited to meet the director and producer, Linda and Dharan Mandrayar.

Advance tickets to “White Rainbow” are discounted and tickets which include both the screening and the reception are available though the Mission Theatre Box Office or by calling (760) 731-CAST.

“White Rainbow” chronicles the journey of a widow in present-day India. The premise of the film is to illustrate that these women do not have to accept their fate and can emerge victorious. The screenplay is based on a collection of true stories and was shot entirely on location in India.

“A woman’s life changes immediately after her husband dies and she is stripped of all rights,” said Linda Mandrayar. “A woman is blamed for her husband’s death – it is because of her ‘bad Karma.’”

The funds from the “White Rainbow” screening will be used to further Fallbrook Film Factory projects, of which there are many; however, some of the funds will also be directed toward widows’ projects in India.

The Fallbrook Film Factory is proud to have award-winning Hollywood screenwriter Adrienne Armstrong on board. Armstrong, the head writer of the television show “Charles in Charge,” will lead the Factory’s Writer’s Group, responsible for selecting and creating scripts. Stage and screen actor James Callahan, who starred in the show, will also lend his skills in the areas of casting, directing and acting.

The Fallbrook Film Factory has the equipment to produce high-end digital video (DV) films. “Virtually anything Hollywood comes up with we can do ourselves,” explained Ronald Shattuck, founder. The Factory’s editing systems are identical to what is currently in use in Hollywood.

The Fallbrook Film Factory will host an open house on Saturday, January 27, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at their corporate offices, located at 310 East Alvarado. The group will be available to answer any questions regarding the organization, including how to join and how to participate in making movies. Heads of each of the groups will be present to answer questions and direct interested parties to a suitable role in the organization.

The Factory is also actively seeking members and corporate sponsors. For more information on membership please call (760) 723-2256; for information regarding sponsorship please contact Donna Walden at (949) 306-3465.

A film festival is planned for spring 2008 in downtown Fallbrook. “We will work together with all the arts organizations in Fallbrook to make the event a success and help bring tourism to Fallbrook,” said Walden.

“Never before has filmmaking been accessible to the masses, and it is our intent to make Fallbrook a filmmaking capitol in the region,” said Shattuck.

After January 30, information about the Fallbrook Film Factory will be available at http://www.fallbrookfilmfactory.com.
