Baseball booster club to hold golf tournament January 15

The eighth annual Fallbrook Baseball Boosters Club golf tournament will be held January 15 at the Vista Valley Country Club.

Check-in will begin at 10:30 a.m., and a putting contest beginning at about 11:00 will precede the noon shotgun start. A dinner, which will include a raffle, a silent auction, and a live auction as well as awards presentations, will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Fallbrook Baseball Boosters Club, which raises money for the Fallbrook High School varsity, junior varsity, and freshman baseball teams. “It will cover the whole gamut,” said Laura Vandivort, the tournament organizer for the Fallbrook Baseball Boosters Club.

The cost for the tournament is $125, which includes the dinner, a goodie bag, a t-shirt and cap, and cart rental as well as 18 holes of golf. Tickets for the dinner only can be obtained for $30. Since both the tournament and the dinner may sell out, reservations are required in advance and can be made by contacting Vandivort at (760) 728-4087.

The golf tournament consists of a scramble format with four-player teams. In addition to the putting contest, the tournament will also have contests for the longest drive and the ball closest to the pin, and prior to the tournament golfers will also have the option to purchase mulligans.

In addition to tournament entry fees and dinner tickets, donations for the raffle, live auction, and silent auction also benefit the booster club. “The community is always very generous,” Vandivort said.

Money is also raised through tee sponsors, who pay $100 apiece to have their individual or company name listed on a tee as a sponsor. The booster club also has Gold, Silver, and Bronze level sponsors at $1,000, $500, and $300 apiece; those sponsors are listed in the program and will also have a banner displayed at the high school baseball field throughout the season. Although tryouts for the baseball teams will not take place until mid-winter, 28 Fallbrook High School students participated in a fall program and those players have been selling level and tee sponsorships. Those students will be at the tournament and banquet to help load and unload items and to meet and greet participants.

Businesses and individuals interested in tee sponsorships or level sponsorships can also call Vandivort at (760) 728-4087.
