League competition begins for Fallbrook High wrestlers

During the last weekend of 2006, on December 28 and 29, the Fallbrook High School varsity wrestling team was at the San Ysidro Invitational in El Cajon. Jake Wagaman was the only wrestler to medal, taking fourth place at 215 lbs. Congratulations, Jake!

December was a very busy time for the team. There were two frosh/soph tournaments, one girls tournament and four varsity tournaments as well as two non-league duals. The team had mixed success at these competitions but considered them great preparation for the upcoming league season.

In January there will be two JV tournaments, two girls tournaments, a freshman tournament, a frosh/soph tournament and two varsity tournaments for the wrestlers to handle along with the start of the Avocado League Dual Season. Today the first dual will take place against Rancho Buena Vista High School beginning at 5:30 p.m. on their campus in Vista. Everyone is encouraged to turn out to show support!

As always, the team wants to express their heartfelt thanks to their Adopt-a-Wrestler sponsors and everyone else who has given so generously this year to support the team, especially the upper level Team Sponsors: Dorman Construction, Valley Short Pour, BCS Construction, BITF Sports, Bonsall Trucking and Ultra Graphix.

For more information on the Adopt-a-Team and Adopt-a-Wrestler programs or other ways to support these athletes, contact Bonnie Wagaman at (760) 473-5203. Go Fallbrook Warriors!
