Jeanne King

Jeanne King, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away January 7 in Fallbrook, CA. She was born Wilma Jeanne Brink on December 22, 1927, in Coal Hill, AR, and was one of nine children of Joseph Cyrus Brink and Amy Elizabeth Castleberry.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Major Wayne King (USMC, Retired); four children, daughter Sandra and son-in-law Daniel Graham, daughter Debby Holland and sons John and Wayne J.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Layne of MO; brother Frank Brink of AZ; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. King lived a happy and productive life. For over 20 years she drove a school bus for both Downey and Fallbrook school districts and was active with Wayne in many military functions. She also participated in volunteer work, many church activities and community organizations such as the Children’s Hospital Auxiliary of Escondido and the Angel Society in Fallbrook.

She inherited a love of music from an early age and sang in the Officer’s Wives Chorus both in St. Louis and Camp Pendleton while stationed there. She was very artistic and painted beautiful watercolor paintings, as well as doing quilting, sewing, making pine needle baskets and many other arts and crafts. Also, she enjoyed attending local doll shows and loved to display her collection for friends and family.

A private cremation is planned, coordinated by Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary of Fallbrook. A private family witness will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at Point Loma on Friday, January 19, at 1:30 p.m. prior to inurnment.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Fallbrook United Methodist Church, 1844 Winterhaven Road, Fallbrook.
