Five Mission RCD members reappointed

Five members of the Mission Resource Conservation District and the Upper San Luis Rey Resource Conservation District were reappointed to new four-year terms during the San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting January 9.

Michael Peters and Gary Bender were reappointed to the board of the Mission Resource Conservation District while Bill Hutchings, Jesse Hutchings, and Harold Schell were given new terms on the Upper San Luis Rey Resource Conservation District. All five seats are for terms which expire on January 3, 2011.

The Mission Resource Conservation District includes Fallbrook, Bonsall, and Rainbow, while the Upper San Luis Rey Resource Conservation District extends into Pala. Resource conservation districts, which are formed to control water runoff and prevent soil erosion, were originally created to focus on agricultural use of land but now involve themselves in watershed management, recreational area management, urban and agricultural irrigation and water use, water quality, forest land productivity, and public education for children and adults.
