St. John's Thrift Shop celebrating 50 years

During 2007, St. John’s Thrift Shop is planning many special sales and celebrations. Founded in 1957, the shop will kick off the first of many special sales of 50 percent off, February 1-5 at its location, 1075 South Mission, Suite G (Town Center North). Hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The board of directors announced that $37,800 had been donated in 2006 to local agencies: Boys & Girls Clubs of North County, CROP Walk, Fallbrook Food Pantry, Fallbrook Historical Society, Friends of Fallbrook Community Center, Friends of Fallbrook Library, Fallbrook Backpack Project, Fallbrook Girls Softball League, Operation United Family (for Pendleton military families), People to People, REINS, Meals On Wheels and St. John’s Church and youth programs.

The thrift shop is a nonprofit organization supported entirely from the sales of clothing and household items donated by local residents.

Volunteers are urgently needed. Anyone who can donate three hours a week to help raise funds to support local agencies may call Kathy Campbell, manager, at (760) 723-9520.
