Lorraine Selix

Lorraine Selix, 82, passed away January 26, 2007, in Fallbrook, CA. Born August 4, 1924, in Pilot Knob, MO, she was a six-year Fallbrook resident.

Lorraine had a special relationship with animals and was an advocate of responsible pet ownership. For many years she and her husband had a breeding kennel in Missouri.

The granddaughter of a noble Southern Baptist minister, she was a faithful servant of the Lord; she lived in grace and joy. Her husband, Earl, was a proud member of VFW after being awarded numerous medals during WWII.

Lorraine never met a stranger she didn’t appreciate and was always ready to respond with quick wit and humor. She gave of herself joyfully. She will be remembered for her courage, generosity and optimism. She was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. Her family wishes to express special appreciation to the ICU staff of Fallbrook Hospital and to the San Diego County Sheriff’s volunteer auxiliary group for the ongoing companionship lovingly provided at weekly visits to the senior community.

Lorraine was preceded in death by husband Delos Selix. She is survived by sons Stanley Peters, MO, and Michael Peters, Scottsdale, AZ; daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Gary Blankenship, Fallbrook, CA; daughter Mary Ulrich, Saint Louis, MO; sister Nancy Mauzy, Smyrna, TN; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A public memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on February 25, 2007, at Fallbrook United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the North County Humane Society, 2905 San Luis Rey Rd., Oceanside, CA 92054. Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary handled the arrangements.
