Mikhail Leybov to speak on Russian gold

In celebration of the Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society’s golden anniversary, the speaker for their February 15 meeting is Mikhail Leybov. He will speak on gold and its mining districts in Russia. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Tourmaline Room of the Mineral Museum at 123 West Alvarado, Fallbrook.

Leybov is the publisher of the Mineralogical Almanac, which marks its tenth anniversary with the 2007 edition. He published “Mir Kamnya” (“World of Stones”) for several years prior to the start of the Mineralogical Almanac. He is a multitalented Earth scientist, having done ocean photography and video, and now is a world-recognized mineral photographer. Leybov has been known to play the guitar as well.

The museum has a special member display of Russian minerals to welcome Leybov.
