Fallbrook’s reputation as an arts location is spreading beyond southern California. Free Spirit Promotions (publishers of Southwest Blend online magazine, which also covers Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico) is conducting an Art Lover’s Getaway contest with a prize of a two-night stay for two in Fallbrook.

The winner and a guest will get to stay at Blue Heron Farm Bed and Breakfast in the Peacock Suite. The stay includes breakfast both days and a chance to go bird watching and enjoy nature in the local chaparral and coastal habitat.

While exploring downtown Fallbrook, the winners will be treated to a gourmet Mediterranean lunch for two at Café de Artistes as well as lunch for two made personally by owner and chef Joni Wilhelm of The Lace Apron. Other local merchants have donated to the prize package, which also includes “Gettin’ the Count,” a print by Wayne Justus, from Fallbrook Fine Art.

More prizes are a $35 shopping spree at Caravan, the fun and exotic clothing store on Main Avenue; a $25 shopping trip at Myrtle Creek Nursery, a turn-of-the-century family farm; and, for music lovers, The Bayou Brothers CD collection and Evren Ozan’s CD “Alluvia.”

Visitors to http://www.southwestblend.com can enter the contest and take a virtual tour of the prizes. The deadline to enter is 12 a.m. February 28, with the winner announced in the next issue of Southwest Round-up! The prize package will be hand-delivered by the editors, Nancy J. Reid and Lisa D. Smith.

The Web site also has a link to an overview of Fallbrook and a listing of some of the shops, art galleries, eating places, parks, preserves and other places to see around town. So, word is getting out there that Fallbrook is a great place to visit for travelers with a variety of interests.
