BONSALL — “If you really enjoy what you do, you don’t work a day in your life,” Fallbrook entrepreneur Mark Barone said, speaking recently from the new Bonsall corporate office of his company, Today’s Window Fashions.
In fact, as the owner of a two-man firm with franchise locations in 16 states, Barone often works long hours helping customers and dealers navigate the world of home-based window treatment sales – but he loves every minute of it.
Together with Vice President Armand Gagnon, Barone recently celebrated the signing of the 32nd franchise of Today’s Window Fashions, a company he started seven years ago. In April, the franchise opportunity was listed as one of Home Business Magazine’s “Hot 350+ Home Based Businesses,” and was also included in Entrepreneur Magazine’s list of “Top 500 Franchises.”
Located in Bonsall’s River Village Shopping Center, Today’s Window Fashions’ new corporate office doubles as a retail showroom, full of sample books and displays of shades, blinds and shutters. Retail space is not necessary for franchisees, however, and most work the business out of their homes and vehicles. Today’s Window Fashions is unique in that samples are brought directly to the customer rather than the customer visiting a store to choose window treatments.
Barone and his wife, Debbie, have lived in Fallbrook for 14 years and raised two children, Heather and Nick. The office move to Bonsall from downtown Fallbrook was precipitated by a need for more space, but Barone said he definitely plans to stay put in the area.
“I’ve traveled all over the U.S., and Fallbrook is always the best place to come home to,” he said.
