Angel Society allocates funds

FALLBROOK — The Board of Directors for Fallbrook’s Angel Society met on January 25 and awarded funds totaling $10,300 to nonprofit organizations that support the needs of the community. Funds were awarded to the following organizations:

• Fallbrook Union Elementary School District – Parents As Teachers Program to support the critical services they provide which include hearing and vision screenings and medical referrals for early detection of physical and mental disabilities.

• Women’s Resource Center (Oceanside) to support adult and children counseling, emergency services, crises assistance intervention as well as housing services.

• The Fallbrook High School Girls Soccer Program funds are to purchase new uniforms, warm-ups, soccer balls, and to cover the cost of preseason tournaments.

• Boy Scouts of America to provide funds to assist Jacob Ricks work on his Eagle Project to build a raised boardwalk for the Bonsall Preserve at the corner of Mission and 76. This will protect local endangered animals and plants and keep citizens from walking through poisonous plants.

• Preserve Calavera to support their activities that preserve and protect the largest remaining native habitat in coastal north county and provide biking and hiking trails and nature exhibits.

• Fallbrook Union High School KOPA to provide funds to produce their annual literary magazine that assists aspiring young writers and artists at Fallbrook High to be published.

• School of the Arts, Art Campus at Fallbrook for the Annual Junior Wildlife Art Exhibit in May. Funds are to provide cash awards to the winners of grades K through 12.

The Fallbrook Angel Society uses proceeds from the Angel Thrift Shop, member dues and other donations to fund requests for worthy community projects. All of the merchandise sold in the Angel Shop comes from community donations.

The Angel Shop, located at 1002 South Main in Fallbrook, is open for business Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
