Mira Sweetland

Mira Sweetland, 83, passed away January at her home in Carlsbad, CA. She was born April 9, 1923 in Italy.

During WWII, Mira saved the lives of 30 men while working with the Partisans in Italy. She received a letter of Commendation from General Alexander of Canada for her bravery.

Mrs. Sweetland was preceded in death by her sister Rina Gehm in 2005. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Everett Sweetland, Carlsbad; daughters and son-in-law Janette & Eddie Smathers, Carlsbad and Susan Denaker, Los Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Aldo & Lena Mai, Milano, Italy; sister and brother-in-law Mary & Herb Babcock, Oceanside, CA; and grandchildren Hayley and Chloe.

A viewing was held February 5, 2007 and a graveside service on February 6, 2007 at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.
