Fallbrook Holistic and Yoga Center: a blissful experience

After spending a few minutes inside Fallbrook Holistic and Yoga Center, one tends to wish for more than a mere five senses to experience all it has to offer.

Stand and absorb the scent of incense wafting on the air, the sound of calming music playing softly in the background, the taste of exotic teas and chocolates, the sight of beautiful art work and sculptures and the rejuvenation of a relaxing massage.

“Our theme here is bliss,” said Tara Boyce-Crivello, who is the proprietor of the center.

She said that while bliss is our true nature, the wear and tear of daily living can rob us of it. We need to buffer ourselves from the outside world by doing a few things to balance ourselves so that we can live a more, “joyful, healthful, rich, life from the inside.”

To that end, the center offers a full range of holistic products and services.

The newest addition inside the center, is a shop, yet to be named, which offers many holistic products to promote a healthy lifestyle such as herbs, teas, oils, bath salts and body and aromatherapy products. In addition, the work of local and third-world artists will be on display as well as statues and sculptures from Tibet and other areas in Asia.

Also offered is Crown Coffee from a Fallbrook roaster, which gives 10 percent of its proceeds to non-profit organizations and for those of us who knew all along that chocolate is good for us, the shop carries Guanni’s Chocolate from a local Peruvian chocolatier.

And for a very special touch, each Tuesday at 2 p.m., the charming little shop within the center, will host a free Chinese tea ceremony to give participants a taste of whole leaf teas offered there.

Boyce-Crivello, 29, opened her business in 2003 and since it has doubled in size. There are now 300 active Yoga participants. One of the methods taught is Svaroopa Yoga, a type that is accessible to anyone of any age and is not geared just for the young and flexible. This type of Yoga concentrates on releasing and relaxing, she said.

The founder of Svarooopa Yoga will be at the center for a free clinic from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, she said.

Boyce-Crivello personally specializes in Yoga Therapy that promotes deep healing and the release of tension rooted in the spine which brings healing and balance to the body, mind and sprit, she said.

The center offers classes for Yoga teachers who come from all over the world to be certified, she said.

She is particularly proud of Eric Isen, the Ayurvedic Consultant who for 30 years has prescribed powerful herbal cures for restoring health and balance.

Boyce-Crivello, 29, who married physicist Sam Crivello two years ago, is from a long line of San Diego County natives, all the way back to the 1500s when the Marron and Frazee families worked the earth. She grew up on a horse ranch in Fallbrook and credits her family for encouraging her to embrace the spiritual values of honoring the earth.
