Don Diego scholarship applications ready

DEL MAR — The Don Diego Fund will soon award five scholarships to local high school seniors who have been involved in the San Diego County Fair. One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a 4-H member, one $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to an FFA member, one $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been an employee of the Del Mar Fairgrounds or the San Diego County Fair and two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to students who have been exhibitors in activities and events at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

To be eligible for scholarship consideration, applicants must have participated in the San Diego County Fair or other events at the Del Mar Fairgrounds prior to this year and anticipate graduating no later than this June. They should also demonstrate the talent for organization, leadership and innovation and make a valuable contribution to the community through participation in the fair, their school and extracurricular activities. Scholarships are not awarded on financial need alone. The scholarships may be used at two- or four-year colleges or universities.

Applications must be accompanied by a certified copy of high school transcripts and postmarked on or before April 2.
