RMWD needs Gerald Walson

Kenneth Roth, candidate for director from Rainbow Municipal Water District’s Division 1, says he wants to help strengthen the district’s fiscal solvency, yet his last minute filing to run triggered a special election which will cost Rainbow about $70,000. That’s $70,000 we can’t spend on infrastructure.

He could have sought appointment, as others did. Doing so would have allowed the board to question him regarding his views about Rainbow’s past and future. The ratepayers would have learned where he stood on capital improvement plans, annexation and the proposed sewage treatment plant.

Roth has attended a few meetings and stayed just long enough to warm the seat. This last-minute, lukewarm candidate is not what Rainbow needs. We need directors who have demonstrated a knowledge of and continuing interest in the district.

Gerald Walson has been attending Rainbow board meetings regularly for years. (Many times he, Maureen Rhyne and I were the total public contingent.) He works on committees, reads budgets and reports and asks intelligent and probing questions. He believes we need more oversight to avoid repeating past mistakes.

He has the time, energy and dedication to conscientiously represent the ratepayers of Division 1. Vote for Gerald Walson.
