Barone to support Leukemia/Lymphoma Society

FALLBROOK — Heather Barone, a resident of Fallbrook for the majority of her life, has joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Team in Training” in preparation for the June 3 Rock ’n Roll Marathon.

“This team will coach me and give me the support I need to prepare for this race, but it will not be enough,” Barone said. “I need the support of my family, friends and community members. Your donations will help give people a brighter future.”

“I have been fortunate enough to be healthy all these years to help me accomplish my dreams, and now I want to help people with cancer get healthy so they can continue to accomplish their dreams,” Barone said.

Barone graduated from Fallbrook High School in 2002 and was actively engaged in sports and community service. Since, she has graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies and concentration in elementary education. At Cal Poly, she played lacrosse and won the National Championship Title her freshman year.

“I am now attending the Full-Time Multiple Subject Credential Program at Cal State San Marcos, passionately pursuing a career as an elementary education teacher,” Barone said. “Being back in Fallbrook with zero sports to play got me hooked on running. That’s right, just running.”

Barone’s running is part of an unimaginably big goal. Her objective is to raise a minimum of $1,700 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. “Please say yes to helping me cross the finish line in honor and support of cancer victims everywhere,” she asked.
