A far deadlier war

Many letters have been published recently concerning the war in Iraq. I served in the U. S. Army in 1970 and 1971 and know the carnage war can inflict. May I remind us of a far deadlier war within the borders of our country? This war takes over 3,400 lives each day, more than were lost on 9/11 and more than have been lost in the entire war in Iraq. This war is waged against women and their babies. This war is largely driven by an industry that makes hundreds of millions of dollars dismembering these helpless infants who feel pain without the mercy of anesthetics. The babies die and their mothers suffer a range of symptoms such as bleeding, infections, sterility, post abortion syndrome and even death. As a Fallbrook pastor deeply involved in the pro life movement, I know of the pain, suffering and death this war has brought.

Where is the outcry against this war? Where is the media coverage? A holocaust that is far greater than that of Hitler in Nazi Germany continues to occur in this country on a daily basis. How true the biblical proverb states, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” May God have mercy on our country even though we have not been merciful to our most innocent and helpless.
